After the extraordinarily long service followed by an amazing BBQ, I felt we needed a little R & R.  Fortunately a friend offered to take us boating (he didn’t know what he was getting himself into at this point).  I decided why not take him up on it.  I mentioned it to the crew of 12 that went dining at Duffy’s for breakfast.  Bobby D., who was up before 4:00 pm, was the first to say, “Sure,” in his Bobby voice.  Rina Rada was all for boating, Denise, though scared to death, felt she should overcome her fears and try it out.  She refused to tempt fate with her motion sickness so she and Jenn took some medicine.  We gave Kristie a call and she was all for it too. Only Darren Stevens, as Kait calls him, was a total bum and opted out of the fun.

Certain cousins were like dragging a cow out of a mud pile.  It only took four hours to get him up and agreeing to go.  Joanna gets credit for that one because she called and said since he planned on sleeping all day she was going to have fun anyway.  Edward is always up for fun and was quite happy to have a little that day.  Ang Tecco and I were driving and Mike Goldstein happened by, we gave him a call; he made a quick U-turn and hopped on.

We made the mistake of sending Jenn and our fearless captain, Mike, out for the alcohol.  They came back with about 32 cases of beers, Bacardi O’s, some weird watermelon and sour apple drinks, Razz, and a bottle of Malibu.  Not quite sure which football team they thought we were picking up but at least they came prepared.

The girls were strangely excited when informed they could sit on the front of the boat.  After Jenn scaled the sides of the boat, like they do in Jaws, I showed everyone else how to go through the front so they don’t have to worry about falling off.  Bobby, Mike and Edward kept a good look out for the pirates on the very top of the boat.  We took the boat out through the canal, having to open the bridge in the process, and around Cape May.  We felt it best not to let Denise know when we hit the ocean.  She never even noticed.  When we stopped at the Crab House for lunch we told her.

The Crab House proved quite fun.  Jenn and Tina shared an Alaskan Snow Crab sandwich.  You’ll notice it in the pictures; it’s the one where Tina is scratching Jenn’s head with the crab.  We all enjoyed some drinks and had a toast, or four, to Kait.  Joanna and Ang thought it might be fun to wade in the mud behind Two-Mile.  I think Jo is still trying to get the black goop out of her toe nails.  As the day progressed so did the fun.

We stopped in the bay for a while to take a little dip.  Mike Goldstein decided then to inform us that he needed to leave in ten minutes for a basketball game.  He made a quick call and five minutes later two girls came to pick him up on wave runners, only Mike!  Everyone enjoyed jumping off the top of the boat while our captain took a little rest.  Good thing we had Edward since we forgot a ladder.  After pulling himself in with ease, he then pulled everyone else is in, repeatedly.

We had to soon leave so people could head home for work.  We tried to get everyone to quit but only Jo-Jo was up for that suggestion, she let Kristie call out for her.  We hung out in the pool and hot tub for a while then went back to the apartment to change to go to Aunt Bunny’s.  Edward and Mike put on some Lava Lava’s and Brandon put on Jenn’s work shirt for dinner.  Not getting there in time, we turned around and ordered pizza at the apartment.  The few of us left crashed on the floor watching a movie.  It was a long fun day!  Just what everyone needed, a day of close friends and family supporting each other.  I felt as if Kait was with us the entire day, although we never would have gotten her on that boat!
